Truthfulness

“Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon and the truth”

-Buddha

Truth is to represent anything with its just and real appearance in front of people and there should be no lie and mis presentations about the facts. A good society is always based upon this virtue which is called Truthfulness. Students and kids are always taught in the school about truthfulness and they are given so many examples in their textbooks about it but in reality, nobody practices truthfulness anyhow. Actually, students and kids are a little confused because they read in their books to speak the truth always and they see all the facilities and good things attained by telling lies, so what to do? This is their biggest dilemma. In many schools’ school management tries to induce attributes like truthfulness in kids to make them good citizens. School management system also includes lessons related to truthfulness like lessons about Mahatma Gandhi who practiced truthfulness his whole life and taught truthfulness to everyone also. These days students are learning through many new methods like online learning and to include practices like truthfulness among students, school management is also giving this responsibility to LMS (learning management system). Students usually don’t know all about LMS advantages. LMS advantages are more than one can enumerate but for students it is absolutely a boon.

Here truthfulness meaning needs to be clarified. This can be defined in two ways. First is to be truthful towards oneself and second is being truthful towards others. Truthful people are called very strong people. In fact they are the strongest ones because they understand themselves and are well aware of their strength and weakness. Such people are very firm in their successes and failures and never overreact in any such conditions, that is why students are told to include truthfulness in their life so that they can handle success and failure equally. Truthful people neve boast of themselves and they represent themselves as they are in their original form in front of everyone. Such people are man of their words and they never leave any stone unturned to fulfil their commitments. For example, We often read the story of King Harishchandra who was famous for his truthfulness. When he lost his kingdom and everything and became slave then due to his commitment to his job he asked for tax to even his wife to burn his own son’s dead body as it was ritual of the cremation place. Such people elucidate their facts and information very clearly without confusion.

Being truthful means not only to speak truth always but to grow and learn through our mistakes and faults. If we talk about society then truthful people are the most trustworthy people and they make very strong bonds with others and gain respect as well. If we talk about students then we can find that speaking truth always cleanses the consciousness of the students and they are able to study and read with full concentration and focus which makes them memorize everything and score good marks. Teaching truthfulness to children is a very hard task because if you ask the children, who ate the cake in the fridge? Then you are not going to get an honest answer but meanwhile as a guardian you will have to make the children understand that there is no harm in speaking the truth instead it will increase the respect in parents’ eyes, then 100% they will try to escape telling a lie.

Students have to tell a lie many times to attain notes or to get the important points from the lecturer and on many occasions, they find telling a lie easy instead of speaking the truth. But it all depends upon how they have been raised in their home and how their parents nurtured them. Up bringing ensures the attributes in the child so parents need to include truthfulness in the child’s mind at a very tender age. So that they can understand that truthfulness can be a little hard to occupy but it makes many complex things in life easier and simpler. A very important fact regarding this is one cannot be truthful to others but being truthful to yourself is very important because if your conscience is aware that you are lying then you will even get rest. So, to have peace and calm in your mind and heart you need to be truthful always to yourself and to others.
