JOURNEY WHALE TRAVELLED HALFWAY AROUND THE WORLD

INTRODUCTION

Conventional wisdom was of the view that the gray whales have gone extinct in the Atlantic Ocean for almost more than 200 years. Moreover, it was said that the these enormous creatures survives only in North Pacific. There was no recent study about gray whales at that time. Can whale travelled halfway around world sets.

In 2013, a gray 40 foot male whale broke the migration record by migrating 16,700 mile journey. It was finally off spotted in Namibia, which is originated in the western pacific. It was a head line of its time that a whale travelled halfway around world and sets a record. There was a sudden thrush in between all top researchers and investigators. It was news of its time, those who loved to read paper got more excited regarding this gray whale journey.

According to research, whales spend their entire summers in the chili water of the northern pacific. When it comes to winters whales are fond of spending winter season along the coast of California and Mexico. When the news broke of a gray whale such long journey. Towards southeastern Atlantic off the coast of Namibia, researchers were in great shock.

KNOWN POPULATION OF GRAY WHALES

It is said that there are two known populations of gray whales,

  1. Eastern Gray Whales
  2. Western Gray Whales

1.    EASTERN GRAY WHALES

The numbers of eastern gray whales said to normal that is approximately around 20,500 individuals. Study patterns regarding eastern gray whales states. That, eastern gray whales are likely to migrate from known seas around Alaska and Russia. Moreover, eastern gray whales are breeding grounds in Baja California.

2.    WESTERN GRAY WHALES

The number of western gray whales said to endangered. That approximately around 200 individuals left in the wild. The reason behind is that, for decades western gray whales mostly casted for commercial whaling. The migration processes of western gray whales are not much known. But according to record western gray whales are feeding around eastern Russia.

GENETIC AND ANALYSIS OF GRAY WHALE

After this gray whale longest journey was all over the media. Researchers put their head down to investigate genetic analysis of this gray whale. It took several years of genetic studies. But it finally suggested that the origin of the gray whale. Is from a very small population of gray whales in the western pacific. Bit by bit researchers were joining and collecting information regarding gray whales. Reevaluating their result to present an authentic result.

POSSIBLE ROUTES OF GRAY WHALES JOURNEY

Gray whale was such a new topic for researchers. They were fully indulged in it, finding new clues about this vary gray whale, and they started examining the pattern and possible route of gray whales journey. Based on the basis of studies present regarding gray whales origin, researchers presented three possible routes for the gray whale that he could have taken to reach the south Eastern Atlantic. Because gray whales are fond of migrating to Canada in winters, researchers were of the view that this long gray whale possibly could have taken that route of Canada.

According to media, and magazines the most likely route was that the gray whale would have taken the route that is around Canada in the north, across the Atlantic and then the South along Africa’s west coast. This route is almost 16,700 miles long and that makes it an interesting journey of gray whale.

REASON BEHIND SUCH LONG JOURNEY

Researchers interested to know the reason behind gray whales long journey, was there a purpose? Or the gray whale just wandered around and reached Namibia? At this point the researchers were not so clear regarding this query. The reason behind is that the average temperature was rising three times faster in the arctic than the rest of the globe. It said that new paths most likely to opened in the sea ice that the whales used to travel around Canada.

Usually whales wander mostly for their feed across the sea, according to studies this could be one of reason of such long journey of gray whale. Whatever it was researchers were quite much interested to dig out an authentic reason for this gray whale long migration. After collecting many pieces of information, they got this clue that because whales travel in winters, it could have been possible that this whale was wandering the sea in search of food and reached Namibia.

CONCLUSION

In 2013 a long 40 foot gray whale migrated and set record of 16,700 miles journey and spotted in Namibia. Gray whale traveled halfway All researchers were in shock of this news that was spreading all across media that Gray whale travelled halfway world sets. Researchers dig out all relevant information regarding this gray whale and set awareness all over the world.
