5 Student Apartment Hacks to Make Life Easier

When you’re living on your own for the first time, it can be tough to make things work. From finding a place to live that’s affordable and has enough space, to cooking your own meals and cleaning your own apartment, there are a lot of challenges that new students face. In this article, we’ll share some student apartment hacks that will make life a little bit easier. These tips will help you get started on living independently.

Maximize space

As college students, we all know that living in an apartment can be pretty frustrating at times. From dealing with noisy roommates to never having enough storage space, it can be tough trying to make the best of our situation. But with a little bit of creativity, you can make your life a lot easier.

Make use of your walls: One of the biggest challenges of living in an apartment is always having enough space. Sure, you could always buy some storage bins or find a way to get rid of some things, but that’s not the best solution. Instead, try using your walls.

Organization

When most people think of hacking, they think of criminals breaking into systems to steal information or wreak havoc. However, hacking can also be used for more benign purposes, such as organizing your life.

One of the best ways to organize student apartments is to create zones. A zone is simply a defined area in which a specific task or activity takes place. For example, you might have one zone for sleeping, one zone for studying, and one zone for relaxing. This type of organization can be extremely helpful in a small space, as it allows you to use every inch of your apartment effectively.

Another way to hack your student apartment is by using storage solutions. There are many different types of storage solutions available, ranging from storage cubes to hanging shelves.

Bedroom

A lot of student apartments come furnished with the basics: a bed, a dresser, and maybe a desk. But for everything else, you’re on your own. Here are some bedroom hacks to make your student apartment feel like home:

1. Use tension rods to create extra storage space in your closet.

2. Stick corkboard to the walls to create a place to hang pictures or post notes.

3. Use a shower curtain rod to create a clothes rack.

4. Hang shelves on the walls to give yourself more storage space.

5. Use an over-the-door shoe organizer to store scarves, hats, and other small items.

Kitchen

If you’re living in a student apartment, chances are you don’t have a lot of extra money to spend on kitchen upgrades. Here are some cheap and easy hacks that will make your cooking experience a little easier:

1. Use an oven rack as a drying rack. If you don’t have room for a drying rack, place an oven rack on top of your counter and use it to dry dishes or hang clothes.

2. Use aluminium foil as a baking sheet. If you don’t have any baking sheets, use aluminium foil instead. It’s cheap and easy to clean.

3. Store spices in empty yoghurt containers. Spice jars can be expensive, but you can save money by storing spices in empty yoghurt containers.

4. Use cling wrap to prevent spills.

Living Room

Life in your apartment during college or university doesn’t have to be boring. There are plenty of ways to make your living room feel like home without spending a lot of money.

One way to add some personality to your living room is by adding plants. Not only do plants make the room look cosier, but they also help to improve air quality. You can find affordable plants at your local grocery store or plant nursery.

Another great way to add some personality to your living room is by using pillows and throws. You can switch out the pillows and throws depending on the season or your mood. This is a great way to add colour and style without having to spend a lot of money.

Finally, don’t forget about the artwork! You can find affordable prints online or at your local art store.
